BIG DRUM and TEXTURED LIVES, two documentaries produced by the Japanese American National Museum in Los Angeles, will be screening in Tokyo on Saturday August 14, 2010. There will be two screenings, at 3pm and 7pm.

BIG DRUM features America's taiko pioneers and documents the ongoing transformation of this dynamic performing art in the U.S.

TEXTURED LIVES is an intimate portrait of Barbara Kawakami, a woman who grew up on a Hawaiian plantation, worked for three decades as a seamstress, entered college for the first time at age 53, and went on to uncover the lost history of Hawaii's early Japanese picture brides.
