The Friends of Minidoka (FOM) is working with the National Parks Service to develop the Minidoka National Historic Site. One of their most important projects is the creation of an Issei Memorial. The purpose of the Memorial is to honor the courage, sacrifices, and perseverance of this first generation of immigrants from Japan who were interned with their families during World War II.

The design team is in the late stages of the design process and is seeking input from interested people and organizations. FOM board members will present the proposed design of the Memorial, receive input, and answer questions from 1pm to 3 pm at the Oregon Nikkei Legacy Center on November 16, 2008. Information regarding the Issei Memorial can be found at the FOM website, www.minidoka.org.
